Red Kangaroos are popular with international tourists who have never seen a kangaroo in the wild.

Red Kangaroos are not considered to be endangered species although these kangaroos are at risk, particularly from natural disasters, dog attacks and motor vehicles. Red Kangaroos are considered semi-nomadic and can be throughout most areas of Central Australia. They prefer open space where shade trees such as Mulga and Mallee Shrub are accessible. They feed on grasses and small plants, generally at night, but also in the early morning and late evening. While the Red Kangaroos is considered common, their populations drop in times of drought and during these harsh times they often are forced to compete with sheep and cattle for food.
