Following the famous Siege at Glenrowan in June 1880, Kelly was captured and was sentenced to the gallows for the murder of three policemen at Stringybark Creek, Victoria. 30,000 people signed a petition demanding clemency; however he was executed at the Old Melbourne Gaol, on 11 November 1880.

Ever since his execution this bearded bushranger has won the hearts of Australians.
