The cartoon most probably illustrates the infamous William Randolph Hearst who built America’s largest newspaper empire. His grandiose use of “Yellow Journalism” influenced America’s popular media by the use of human interest and sensationalist stories.

Yellow journalism is a type of journalism that gives people little or no genuine researched news and instead exploits attention-grabbing headlines to sell newspapers. Techniques embraced are typically, gossip, rumourmonger, sensationalism and embellishment of news stories.  The term yellow journalism has been replaced today with the less eloquent “Fake News”.

They are obviously without souls. If decent people would refuse to look at such newspapers the thing would right itself at once.
