Firenze - Vintage Italian Travel Poster

The Original Vintage Italian Travel Poster was created by Luigi Salomone in 1938.

In its day, this poster a very high quality print advertising Beautiful Firenze [Florence]. The offset colour lithograph was state of the art at the time and produced fantastic detail.

"Firenze" is the capital of Italy’s Tuscany region, the birthplace of the Renaissance and home to masterpieces of Art and Architecture.
The Tower represented in the poster is the Palazzo Vecchio, it is the town hall of Florence and overlooks the Piazza della Signoria. The tower has three bells and the oldest was cast in the 13th century.

The palace achieved new significance as the seat of United Italy's Provisional Government from 1865–71, a time when Florence had become the temporary capital of the Kingdom of Italy.

These days the Palazzo Vecchio is a museum and it still remains the symbol and centre of local government. It had housed the office of the mayor of Florence since 1872 and it is the seat of the City Council.
