Verona - Vintage Italian Travel Poster
A 1930's Italian Travel Poster of Verona.
The original Vintage Italian Travel Poster published in 1938, advertising Verona was issued by the Italian Travel Office ENIT.
A wonderful Illustration depicting the historic buildings and ancient monuments in the old city centre of Verona.
The Bell Tower in the background is The Torre dei Lamberti, it is 84 metres high and construction commenced in 1172. The top of the tower was struck by lightning in 1403 and restoration work took 16 years to complete. Height was added to the tower at the time of restoration and the more recent sections can be recognised by the different materials used, i.e. marble.
The tower has two bells: the "Marangona" which sounds the hours of the day and the larger "Rengo" which is used to call the people to arms or to invoke the city's councils.
