Waschanstalt Zurich - Vintage Advertising Poster
Waschanstalt Zurich, a 1905 Advertising Poster by Robert Hardmeyer.
Robert Hardmeyer created this remarkable Avant Garde poster in 1905 for a laundry company in Zurich. An astonishingly surreal image of a rooster swollen with pride, dressed in a freshly-laundered tuxedo shirt! The poster created a visual bombshell and became a revolutionary advertisement of the time and became the company logo.Robert Hardmeyer’s graphic design career the way he supported his preferred passion, illustrating schoolbooks and children’s books. His poster work however was what set him apart as one of the pioneers of the art of the poster. His simple shapes, large areas of bold colour contributed much to Swiss poster art around the turn of the 20th century. This magnificent poster has been considered as the source of inspiration for the "SachPlakat" (German for "poster style") posters. The original posters were of high professional quality and skilfully printed in lithography on stone.
A wonderful example of powerful design!
